Rowan’s Compatibility: Dogs - She’d rather be your one and only pup Cats - No cats or small critters, please Kids - 14 and up Rowan is convinced the frisbee is the greatest invention in history. When one goes flying, she takes off like a shot with all that border collie speed and focus. She’ll even bring it back for another round (eventually). A jolly ball and a good game of fetch rank right up there. Once she knows you, she’s a big lover. She’ll nudge your hand with her nose until you pet her, and if you sit down on the floor, she’ll climb right into your lap and roll over for belly rubs. She’s a quick study, too. Her foster family taught her to head to her own room on cue, and she was fully house-trained once she settled into their routine. They even took her on walks downtown, and she handled the traffic and the crowds like a pro. Every time they came home, she met them at the door with happy jumps and a whole lot of wiggles. Storms are the one thing Rowan can’t shake. Thunder frightens her so much that she’ll do anything to get away from it, so she needs someone ready to help her ride it out. She takes a daily medication plus extra before a storm, and that routine makes a real difference for her. Her person will want a storm plan, like being home with her when the weather turns and keeping a heavy-duty crate for the times they can’t be. Rowan likes to take her time getting to know someone new, so she’ll be happiest in a quiet, low-traffic home where visitors are the exception. She’d rather say hello on her own terms. She can be sensitive about being touched when she’s sleepy or startled, so her people always speak to her before reaching for her. Rowan isn’t a dog for everybody, and she doesn’t need to be. She needs one calm home that’s ready to weather the storms with her, and whoever that is will have a loving, frisbee-crazy best friend.
