Meet Irene! She’s a 3.5-year-old female American Pitbull mix weighing 36 lbs. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/19 as a stray and has a gorgeous smile. Irene loves squeaky toys, strolling around the play yard with her tail wagging and a toy in her mouth. She has a cherry eye, so a vet visit is recommended. She enjoys treats, takes them gently, walks well on a leash, and may be housetrained. Irene can jump on you. Between toys and treats, she can get excited and become mouthy, so additional training and an adult-only home would be best for now. When passing barking dogs, she did bark back at a few, so it may be better for her to be the only dog in the household. If you have another dog, please request a dog test from the shelter. Irene dreams of finding a loving family with a secure yard to play in and then coming inside to spend quality time with her companions. Come meet her!
