Meet Sumatra! Warm brown eyes, an eager-to-please personality, and so much big puppy joy... this handsome fella is ready for a lifetime of love, snuggles and adventures. Sumatra came to us from a home overwhelmed with dogs which meant that he didn't really get the attention he deserved or craves. All of his former housemates (Princeton, Sultan, and the six "Chicken Breed" puppies) have found their forever homes over the last couple of weeks. Now it's definitely Sumatra's turn. Sumatra does well on leash for a puppy. He can still be jumpy when he gets excited, but has an amazing "sit". He utilizes it with proficiently and with alacrity. In fact, he'll often sit right in front of you when you are taking him for a walk because he knows that's how to get some love and treats. Sumatra was the odd-man-out of trio of brothers. Sultan and Princeton were often a bit rough with him during play time, resulting in him being a bit nervous around other dogs. However, he has made great strides thanks to our playgroup rockstar, Millie (who is also looking for a home). He’ll be a stage-10 clinger with the way that he leans in for pets and then looks back at you with all of the stars in his eyes. Male 9 months 53 lbs Mixed Breed - Large (one brother looks like a Retriever, one looks like a Husky/Retriever) Origin Story: Sumatra came in with six young pups and two other older pups who had been living in less than ideal conditions outdoors. ------------------------------ Interested in adopting? The BEST way to adopt is to come meet the pet in person at the shelter and fill out an application while you’re here. No appointment needed! Please note: in-person adopters who have already met the animal get first priority, and sometimes pets are adopted before we’re able to contact online applicants. Hours: 11am-4pm every day!
