About Ricky

Ricky is an approximately 9-10 months old Panda German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix, weighing around 50 pounds and still growing. With his striking markings, beautiful Panda Shepherd markings, and gentle personality, Ricky is truly one-of-a-kind. But what makes Ricky especially special isn't just his appearance—it’s his sweet, submissive, and incredibly gentle nature. He is fully vetted, neutered, heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. He is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada for the right home. To meet this amazing pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Ricky's story began when he was just 3 months old, living on the streets with his sister (check out the picture). One of our stray feeders contacted his foster mom after spotting the two beautiful puppies trying to survive on the streets. His foster mom immediately wanted to get them to safety. Sadly, before we could rescue them, they ended up in the shelter, where his sister was separated from him and eventually she got adopted, leaving Ricky behind. Ricky, whose shelter name was Alaric, was a staff favorite, who were concerned about his sadness from being separated from his sister. Thankfully, we were able to get him out on time and flew him to his foster mom in Dallas, Texas. Today, Ricky is having a blast with his best friend, Luc - who is our black German shepherd-lab mix pup! The two spend their days running and playing around the farm and splashing around in the water together. Despite his Shepherd/Husky heritage, Ricky is an exceptionally quiet boy. He hardly ever barks, making him a surprisingly peaceful companion. He is also wonderful around farm animals and has no prey drive. He is comfortable around dogs, cats, toddlers, and people. He can be shy when he first meets someone and may need a little time to warm up, but once he realizes he is safe, his sweet personality begins to shine. He is very submissive and is simply a gentle soul who wants to be loved. Ricky has already been through more than any puppy should have to experience—from trying to survive on the streets as a tiny puppy to ending up in a shelter. Now he is safe, happy, and surrounded by love. Ricky would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle, beautiful, playful young dog who enjoys having canine friends but is also happy to simply be part of the family. Ricky is fully vetted, neutered, heartworm negative and kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. He is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada for the right home. To meet this amazing pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Ricky’s adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and harness. Transport fees out of Houston can range from $150 - $350 depending on destination. Panda German Shepherds are basically the same as other GSDs when it comes to temperament, trainability, exercise requirements, and nutritional needs. The only difference is their unique coloring! Panda German Shepherds are full-bred German Shepherd dogs with an uncommon genetic mutation in their KIT gene. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
