About Mia

If you would like more information about Mia or are interested in adopting her, please send an email to [email protected] or contact this number, 832-814-0177 Mia was found as a stray, and I have had her since February 2026. My original intention was to make her a permanent member of my family. I already had one dog, and I hoped they would happily coexist. Since bringing her home, I have had her spayed, microchipped, and started on heartworm treatment after she tested positive. For the past 25 years, I have always chosen to adopt or rescue dogs, and Mia is no exception. Mia is house-trained and even rings a bell by the door when she needs to go outside. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves to cuddle, play, and spend time with her people. She is especially fond of her toys and blankets and enjoys being part of the household. Because of whatever hardships she may have experienced before being rescued, Mia shows some anxiety. She is sensitive to loud noises such as garbage disposals and large trucks passing through the neighborhood. Despite this, she has adjusted well in many ways and generally gets along with my dog as well as my son's dogs. The challenge has been Mia's territorial behavior. While she plays wonderfully with other dogs and can often be found running through the house with them like two children having fun, she can become defensive over items she discovers outside in the yard. If another dog approaches to investigate what she has found, Mia may react protectively, which has led to several fights. It is important to note that she is not a resource guarder. She eats comfortably beside my dog and has never shown guarding behavior toward people. Her issue is specifically territorial guarding related to things she finds outdoors. Because of these incidents, I believe Mia would be happiest and most successful as the only dog in the home. Outside of this one behavioral challenge, she is a loving, well-behaved companion with so much affection to give. It breaks my heart to consider rehoming her because she truly is a sweet, lovable dog. However, my biggest concern is that continued conflicts could eventually result in one of the dogs being injured, and I want to do what is best and safest for everyone involved.
