Xena - ID# 7155 - Kennel #833 - Arrived May 26th (Stray) - American Pit Bull Terrier Mix - Tan and White - Female - 7 Years 5 Months Old - 75 lbs - Up to Date on Vaccines - Heartworm Negative Xena is a seven-year-old tan and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix with warm amber eyes, a broad, beautiful face, and a calm, gentle presence that is impossible not to notice. She arrived at Cobb Animal Services as a stray on May 26th, and how a dog this sweet and this lovely ended up without a home is simply heartbreaking. She spends her days quietly on her Kuranda bed, never making a sound - a dignified, patient girl waiting for someone to see her for the treasure she is. Xena knows sit and stay, walks beautifully on a leash, and is completely quiet in her kennel. She is the kind of dog who asks for very little and gives back everything. At 75 lbs she is a big, beautiful girl with a soft, easygoing nature that makes her an absolute pleasure to be around. There is a steadiness to Xena that only comes with age and experience - a settled, grateful quality that makes senior dogs so profoundly rewarding to love. There is a particular injustice in a dog like Xena sitting in a shelter kennel. She is well behaved, gentle, and beautiful inside and out - and she deserves a soft landing more than words can say. Senior dogs feel the uncertainty of shelter life deeply, and every day Xena waits is a day she deserves better. Xena is not asking for much - a warm bed, a gentle hand, and someone who will choose her and mean it. She has already shown who she is - quiet, sweet, and full of grace. The person who brings her home will wonder how they ever got along without her. Come meet her in Kennel #833 - that beautiful face and those calm amber eyes will tell you everything you need to know.
