Flame is a gorgeous one-year old male Australian Shepherd mix who was brought to the HSOV on September 22nd 2026 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who picked him up on Elm Street in Belpre Ohio. Flame was wearing a collar, but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on his collar .. And he was not microchipped. This handsome young man has a brown-and-black mediumhaired coat with a patch of white on his chest, white paws, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable face with pale sky blue eyes, a slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. These photos of Flame were taken on September 27th 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos accompanied him for outdoor photos. Flame was a wanna-be lap dog when Angel shared a garden bench with him for his first photos. He made himself comfortable on Angel's lap and politely asked for attention before venturing into the green grassy area for his second round of pictures. Flame had not yet stepped on the scales for a weigh-in but he likely weighs 40-45 lbs. Flame walked fairly well on a leash for Angel. An individual who was familiar with Flame (fka Clyde) provided some information about him on Facebook when he was initially found on Walnut Street in Belpre: This sweet boy is is great with children; probably does better with female people friends; and is up-to-date on vaccinations. He is shy/timid and needs lots of love and attention. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Flame was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for this good-looking boy. Since he was not reclaimed, Flame went home with a foster family on October 21st 2026 so that he could enjoy a real home environment instead of shelter kennel. Update: Flame went hold with another foster family on October 23rd 2026 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered.
