Meet Sheila! Sheila is a bright, sensitive girl who truly blossoms once she feels safe. After spending time in a foster home, she showed just how much potential she has to be an incredible companion. Every day brought a little more confidence, a little more personality, and a lot more smiles. One of Sheila's biggest strengths is how connected she is to her person. She is highly food-motivated, eager to learn, and loves working alongside someone she trusts. She has wonderful leash manners, enjoys exploring the outdoors, and is happiest rolling in the grass, lounging in the sunshine, or playing with her favorite toys. She also rides calmly in the car, settles well in a crate, and has excellent house manners overall. Once Sheila gets comfortable, her playful side begins to shine. She loves toys, enjoys spending time outside, and is happiest when she has a predictable routine and someone she can count on. Sheila is still building confidence around unfamiliar people and other dogs, so she will need an adopter who is willing to take introductions slowly and continue using positive reinforcement to help her navigate the world. She would likely do best in a quieter home with adults or older children who can respect her boundaries while she settles in. The good news? Sheila has already shown just how much progress she can make when given patience, understanding, and a chance to decompress. If you're willing to give her that opportunity, you'll gain a loyal companion who is ready to keep growing by your side. Thanks to a generous sponsor, Sheila's adoption fee has already been paid. All that's missing is the family willing to give her the fresh start she deserves. If interested, please fill out the preliminary at odas.org/canine before you visit.
