Dog Finder

Barney arrived at NCCR on 7/13/26, found stray in the nearby gorge. He is a bulldog mix, believed to be just 1-3 years old. He was a little shy at first, but after a few days of regular meals, a bed and toys of his own, and lots of love, he is settling in beautifully and has begun to show his playful side. He seems to be completely unbothered by the dogs around him, and usually just wags his tail at them. He also loves to lean on you for petting. Barney received a full veterinary exam, microchip, vaccines, dewormer, flea/tick prevention, and was neutered. More info to come as we get to know him better. *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he is a great fit. Not sure if you are ready to adopt? Please consider applying to foster Barney, which will lead to a happily ever after adoption, either with you, or the family you help get him ready for! Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience. Learn more and apply on our website, under the “Get Involved” tab. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at [email protected]. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
