Wybie is quite literally a big teddy bear! He’s sweet, fluffy, and already a whole lot of dog. At just 10 months old, this handsome guy weighs in at around 100 pounds! We believe he’s likely done most of his growing, but he’s certainly not short on size. Wybie would probably be happiest with a little room to stretch out, plenty of space to lounge, and a yard of his own to enjoy. Apartment living may not be his ideal setup!When Wybie first arrived at the shelter, he was a pretty shy and uncertain boy. We suspect he may have spent much of his time outdoors, as even something as simple as walking across unfamiliar floors seemed new and a little scary to him! Since then, he’s made so much progress and has really started to come out of his shell. He’s now walking wonderfully on leash, though we do anticipate he’ll need some reassurance when exploring new places. Wybie appreciates having a safe space to retreat to when he needs a little downtime, and having a large crate available in his new home could help him feel secure while adjusting. He also appears to be potty trained and does a lovely job keeping his space clean. As with any dog, especially one still learning about life indoors, he’ll need time, patience, and plenty of encouragement as he settles into a new home. A little grace along the way will go a long way! One thing Wybie is absolutely sure about? Other dogs are wonderful! He is incredibly dog friendly and seems happy to meet just about everyone, even if they aren’t quite as excited to meet him. He has a naturally submissive, playful personality, and having canine friends around appears to help him feel more comfortable. We think he may really enjoy having a dog sibling, though it’s important to remember that Wybie doesn’t always realize just how BIG he is! His enthusiasm and size may be a little much for some dogs, so thoughtful introductions and meet-and-greets are important. Wybie is a playful boy without being overly demanding. He’s still discovering just how fun toys can be, but so far, he’d much rather enjoy some outdoor time or one-on-one connection with his people. He’s got a curious nose, a sweet personality, and even a little gentle back talk that makes us smile. He’ll appreciate opportunities to explore, play, and keep learning as he grows into adulthood, but he’s also perfectly happy to settle in and enjoy some quiet company. Wybie is such a special boy, and he’s quickly become one of those dogs who leaves a big impression on everyone who meets him. He’s still learning about the world, but his progress has been wonderful to watch. We can’t wait to see him find a family who will give him the space, patience, and love he needs to keep blossoming. There’s a whole lot of teddy bear to love here!
