Popeye — The Little Boy Who Chased After His Family Meet Popeye, a 6-year-old, 16-lb sweetheart with the most loving little heart and a story that will absolutely break yours. Popeye was found outside a shopping center in Puerto Rico, where he had clearly been abandoned by the very people he trusted most. Witnesses saw his family drive away, and this poor little boy did the only thing he knew to do — he ran after their car. He chased the people he loved, desperately trying to keep up, not understanding why they were leaving him behind. But they never came back. Popeye was left scared, confused, and alone, still hoping someone would take him home. Thankfully, rescuers stepped in and gave this sweet boy the second chance he deserved. Despite everything, Popeye is incredibly affectionate and loving. He can be a little nervous at first, but he is friendly and just wants to feel safe. Once he realizes you're kind, he is an absolute cuddle bug who loves being close, soaking up affection, and reminding you just how much love a little dog can give. At just 16 lbs, Popeye is the perfect little companion for someone who wants a devoted best friend. He doesn't need much — just gentle hands, a warm place to sleep, and someone who will never make him wonder why he's been left behind again. He is making great strides with his potty training but will still need a little help! Popeye spent his last moments with his old family running after a car that wouldn't stop. Now we're hoping his next car ride will be the one that takes him home forever. Popeye is still in Puerto Rico and will be sent to his forever home or a foster home in the continental US - whichever opens up first!
