About Maple
This is Maple (age 4) and Petra (age 2). Both are female, chihuahua mix. We found them in our neighborhood last september. Maple (bigger one) was pregnant when we found her roaming the neighborhood with Petra next to her. She ended up having a litter of 5. All have been adopted. We think Petra may be her daughter from a different litter. Petra was adopted but after a month she still showed severe signs of separation anxiety and so the family brought her back to us. Now we know they are a solidified bonded pair and have to go together. Because they are so close, they function like a single dog. Maple leads and Petra follows. If Maple is laying down, so is Petra. If Maple is running around, there Petra is attached to her hip. They're both very sweet. Maple is calm and confident. She is gentle and cautious and definitely the one in charge. Petra is petrified (hence her name) of everything. She's painfully shy but extremely sweet batting her eyes and licking her snout as she hesitantly goes in for pets. Petra is very gentle also and once she feels safe, Petra is a snuggle buddy. They're both great dogs. We're working on kennel and leash training. They do great in their large kennel as long as they're together. If you separate them, it's Petra who gives trouble. She gets anxious and will sometimes have an accident in her kennel or whine before she settles. She eventually does settle alone. They're outside dogs most of the time but, as we've introduced indoors they've both responded very well. Leashing up to go potty, calming down once inside, and learning to be house dogs has been an easy transition. They are funny together and always loving towards each other. They find comfort in being close physically. They can be acclimated with other dogs but initially they will bark. I've had no issues with aggression towards other dogs or towards my kids who are small, but they will run away if they're not in the mood for little hands. Maple has attacked chickens before and because of this I'd say she's dangerous around smaller farm animals. She's great with people and takes time but will warm up to other dogs big or small. Petra is a danger to no one because she hides from her shadow. Come, sit, quiet, off and kennel up are commands they both obey. They're wonderful dogs who need a wonderful home. They are up to date on vaccines and we are offering to pay for their upcoming vacancies for the next year as well to make sure they stay current. They are both spayed and overall healthy. We will provide kennels, leashes, and dog food to help you get started. Adoption fee is $100 altogether. We just want them to have a good home. Ask questions, come visit. Let's get these girls are forever home.
