Meet Koko! At 10 years young and 25 pounds, Koko is a scruffy little sweetheart looking for a place to call home. This Shih Tzu mix came into rescue after her beloved mom experienced medical issues that made it difficult to care for her. After a stressful stay at the shelter, Koko is finally getting a chance to decompress in a foster home, and we're so happy she’s here! Koko is a sweet, gentle girl who loves nothing more than snuggling up with her favorite person and sleeping in bed with them. Her shaggy, curly coat has been described as looking like she stuck her paw in an electrical socket, and honestly, we think it just adds to her charm! She enjoys going for walks, is good on a leash, and is starting to discover her playful side. We're excited to see more of her personality come out as she settles in. Koko would do best as the only dog in the home. She can get jealous when it comes to sharing her favorite people and food, so she'd love a family where she can soak up all the attention herself. She's good with gentle children and enjoys spending time with her people. Koko can be anxious when left alone, so a family that's home most of the time would be ideal. She prefers a calm environment and would also appreciate it if someone could make the rain stop before walk time! Koko has a few medical needs her future family should know about. She needs eye drops twice a day for high eye pressure, and the shelter noted a high-grade heart murmur that will need to be reassessed now that she's had time to settle in. She'll also need regular grooming to keep her adorable curls from matting and a little patience with her potty routine, as she doesn't reliably let her foster know when she needs to go outside. After everything she's been through, Koko deserves a home where she can finally relax, feel safe, and enjoy the simple things in life: cozy naps, leisurely walks, and all the snuggles she can get.
