About Gowoon

?Currently located in South Korea?? ??Available to fly to U.S. and Canada?? Meet Gowoon?? ?? Name: Gowoon ?? Gender: Female ?? Age: Estimated 6 years old (Born in February 2020) ?? Weight: 14 kg / 30.86 lb ?? Adogs News Account: @_adogs_ 1?? Health Condition * Spayed. * Microchipped and heartworm negative upon retest. 2?? Rescue Story * Gowoon gave birth to seven puppies at the Gimje City Shelter in late 2021. As her body was severely weakened after delivery and the pups would not be able to survive the shelter's harsh conditions, Adogs stepped in urgently to rescue Gowoon and her entire family. 3?? Basic Information * With People: Is very timid and cautious around people. May run away or freeze up initially. During her time at training school, it took a lot of time to build trust with her trainer. It is important to go slow, refrain from overwhelming her, and wait until she feels calm enough to accept treats. Once familiar, she allows gentle touches on her chest and basic care in an enclosed space while on a leash, though not yet fully unrestricted. * With Dogs: Approaches new dogs to sniff them. Is not shy with dog friends but isn't the type to be overly energetic during play. Coexists harmoniously without ever picking fights. * With Cats: Showed zero reaction when spotting a cat 10 meters away through a fence. * Separation Anxiety: Handles independent time wonderfully without separation anxiety. Actually becomes a bit more active and relaxed when alone. * Potty Training: Currently potties outdoors at our center. May need retraining when moving to a new home environment. * Hygiene: Accepts baths and tooth brushing in a restricted area while leashed once she trusts you. Through ongoing desensitization training, her tolerance for coat brushing and nail trims has improved, though performing care slowly inside a small fence or safe enclosure is recommended. * Walks: Does walk smoothly thanks to consistent training at the school. However, as urban environments can present unexpected triggers for a timid dog, careful observation is needed. A double leash and extra attentive care are required. Rather than like going on walks, she seems to simply follow her handler’s lead. * Car Sickness: Rides cars very calmly with zero motion sickness. * Barking: Tends to bark when hearing loud noises outside. Barks when she is outside alone and hears people inside the kennel without seeing them. Sometimes barks when expressing a desire to join other dogs in the play yard. * Biting: Used to show occasional fear-based mouthiness in the past. Thanks to her dedicated training, if she opens her mouth defensively, simply petting and reassuring her diffuses the behavior completely without any aggression. May become mouthy when putting on a leash prior to walks, but it goes smoothly if you redirect her attention through treats before buckling the leash. * Personality & Traits: Gets along well with other dogs and expresses her likes or dislikes clearly. Is shy and timid so she gets scared of sudden movements, fast approaches, loud noises, or hands moving directly toward her face. Gentle, patient training and allowing sufficient time for her to adapt is essential.
